Confirmations in the MotoGP grid for the 2027 season

The 2027 MotoGP season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent years, with a significant change in the rider grid. With the first contract renewals and signings already confirmed, the competition landscape is becoming clearer as the implementation of new technical regulations for manufacturers approaches, which are committed to remaining in the competition until 2031.

Following the adherence to the Concorde Agreement, a series of official announcements have shaken up the grid. Currently, the grid for 2027 is expected to be almost complete, with the exception of Team Tech3, which still needs to finalize its lineup.

Provisional MotoGP Grid 2027

Team | Riders
Ducati | Marc Marquez, Pedro Acosta
Aprilia | Marco Bezzecchi, Francesco Bagnaia
KTM | Alex Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio
Honda | Fabio Quartararo, Diogo Moreira or David Alonso
Yamaha | Jorge Martín, Ai Ogura
LCR-Honda | Johann Zarco, David Alonso or Diogo Moreira
Pramac-Yamaha | Toprak Razgatlioglu, Izan Guevara
Gresini-Ducati | Joan Mir, Dani Holgado
VR46-Ducati | Fermín Aldeguer, Nicolo Bulega or Luca Marini
Tech3-KTM | Maverick Vinales or Luca Marini, Senna Agius or Manu Gonzalez
Trackhouse-Aprilia | Raul Fernandez, Enea Bastianini

The new MotoGP rider, Diogo Moreira, already has a contract, but could make the jump to the factory team of Honda, remaining within the structure of HRC. The round of announcements began at the end of June, with Marc Marquez’s renewal with Ducati, confirmed in a meeting on June 23.

Ducati announced Francesco Bagnaia’s departure before presenting Pedro Acosta as his replacement in record time. Meanwhile, Aprilia secured Marco Bezzecchi in early February and announced the incorporation of Bagnaia during the weekend of the Dutch Grand Prix.

Yamaha confirmed on July 1 that Jorge Martín and Ai Ogura will form its team for 2027, after announcing the departures of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins. KTM, on the other hand, officialized the arrival of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Awaiting confirmations from Honda

Honda has yet to officially announce Fabio Quartararo as the new lead rider, and continues to deliberate on who will accompany him, whether David Alonso or Diogo Moreira.

Movements among independent teams

The first independent team to confirm its lineup for 2027 was Gresini, which announced that Joan Mir and Dani Holgado will form a competitive pair. For LCR-Honda, the incorporation of Alonso for the satellite team is likely if Moreira is promoted to the factory team.

The situation remains uncertain at Team Tech3, which is evaluating options with Maverick Vinales, Enea Bastianini, and Moto2 rider Senna Agius. Uncertainties around Marini and Vinales could extend official announcements as time goes on.

Renowned riders in danger

With four Moto2 riders filling the grid, including Alonso, Holgado, Guevara, and Agius, several MotoGP race winners could find themselves without a seat. Among the most affected could be Alex Rins, Franco Morbidelli, Jack Miller, and Brad Binder, who now face the challenge of seeking new opportunities, possibly in the Superbike World Championship.
