After starting from sixth position, Mortara has got the victory of the second race of Nürburgring. Auer and Wittmann have accompanied the Italian on the podium.

 

The start was quite clean from the front, but behind, Di Resta had a touch with Glock, causing himself a puncture and making the German to be stopped until all the cars overtook him. The Poleman, Auer, kept his position and Wittmann did the samewith his second place. Molina lost positions, falling to thirteenth.

After the first 20 minutes of race, Götz suffered a 5 seconds penalty for causing a collision. At the same time, the drivers started to pit, and Farfus was investigated due to an Unsafe Release, as he almost touched Molina and Wickens. After one lap, Farfus had to do a Stop & Go of 10 seconds.

The two drivers who were fighting for the win, Auer and Wittmann, pitted at the same time. Auer left the Pit ahead of Wittmann so the positions stayed the same. But when they joined the track, Spengler went between them. However, this did not suppose any problem to Wittmann as Spengler still had to stop.

With 30 minutes to go, a small accident between Tomczyk and Rosenqvist in the pitlane was investigated. Soon, the Swedish was penalized with a Drive Through.

A little bit later, Green touched Paffett and sent him off the track. Mortara made his stop and came out ahead of Wittmann, which caused the German to be third placed.

With only 17 minutes left, Vietoris was the last driver to stop and Mortara began to fight with Lucas Auer for the victory. With 10 minutes to finish the race, the italian tried to overtake on the main straight and he got it. The Audi driver started to pull away from Auer and in less than one lap, the Austrian was already outside the DRS zone.

Soon after, Ekström suffered a touch with Spengler while they were fighting for P4. Finally, the Swedish won the position cleanly. Moreover, the two Spaniards were placed in the points: Molina occupied the tenth position and Juncadella was ninth.

Chronometer to 0, 1 lap to go, and Wittmann had Ekström stuck to his rear wing. In the last sector, the Swedish tried to overtake Wittmann but he locked the door quite well. In the final straight, Ekström tried again to catch the German, but he did not have time to overtake him.

Finally, Mortara won the race with Auer second and Wittmann, by little, completing the podium. Ekström finished fourth and Müller was fifth. The Top10 was completed by Spengler, Paffett, Blomqvist, Juncadella and Molina.
