Mortara wins in Spielberg and Wehrlein leads the championship

#48 Edoardo Mortara, Audi RS5 DTM

The race disputed today at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg has left us several fights. It was a funny race for the drivers, there have been many touches and overtakings.

The race had a clean start and there has been no accidents. Ekström and Wittmann have started very well and gained some positions. Jamie Green has also overtaken the only driver ahead of him, Edoardo Mortara. However, in the second lap, the British had a problem with his engine and he couldn’t finish the race. Consecuently the Italian regained the first position. Behind him, Wehrlein and Di Resta haven’t been able to keep pace from Mortara’s Audi, and have chosen to manage the race from a conservative way.

One of the drivers who managed very well this race was Dani Juncadella, who despite not having reached the points, took advantage many times of the struggles of the guys ahead him to win positions. But finally, the Catalan has finished eleventh. We have also enjoyed a fight during the first half of the race between Wittmann, Paffett, Rockenfeller and Tambay for P7. Who has not been victorious from one of the battles was Martin Tomzcyk, who had to go to the box and end his race after a little battle with Timo Scheider. Moreover, we have found almost on the lastest positions Molina and Blomqvist fighting for P17. On the last lap, Ekström was able to make a risky overtaking to Augusto Farfus and win the fifth place.

So then, Mortara transformed into victory the Pole position he had achieved today, Pascal Wehrlein goes up to the second step of the podium and becomes the new leader of the championship, and Paul Di Resta signs a superb third position.
