Edoardo Mortara continues completing a great weekend at the Spielberg circuit. After leading the two free practice sessions, it has also managed to set the fastest time in Qualy for the first race. Moreover, Miguel Molina has caused a red flag when there were 8 minutes to finish.
Vietoris was the first to open track and mark time. Then, Wehrlein placed first with his Mercedes, with a fabulous 1:25.090, six hundredths faster than Paul Di Resta. Later, most drivers went to the garage except Mattias Ekström, who was twelfth and improved to fourth place; and Miguel Molina, who stopped his car at the Gösser corner and caused a red flag that has been on track about 5 minutes.
At the re-start of the qualifying session, Rockenfeller was the first to go out, although he has stayed with the tenth fastest time. Di Resta became first, almost two tenths faster than Wehrlein, and on the next lap he improved to score his final time, 1:25,006 which has served to make him rank fourth.
Only the first 3 drivers have improved the 1:25,000. The poleman Edoardo Mortara, who put at the head of the ranking with a 1:24,714; Jamie Green, who has finished second with a 1:24.714; and Pascal Wehrlein, who won the third place on the final lap with a 1:24,927.
