Sebastian Montoya gets a full-time Red Bull F1 Junior Team seat for the 2023 season after being part as an athlete in 2022.
Having been an athlete in 2022, Montoya – son of Juan Pablo – will have a full-time Red Bull F1 Junior Team seat in 2023 as he becomes the latest to confirm his place in the family. He is in fact the fourth ‘new’ driver to be part of the academy for the new year.
Enzo Fittipaldi announced himself during the last F1 season which was followed by self announcements from Enzo Tarnvanichkul and Zane Maloney. Even Montoya has announced himself as a Red Bull junior, with the team yet to release the full list.
From the ones carrying on from 2022, Dennis Hauger, Isack Hadjar and Ayumu Iwasa are to remain with Red Bull, while Liam Lawson will also be part of the family. The Kiwi, though, will race in Super Formula and will have a F1 role too.
“Excited to announce I am now part of the Red Bull’s Official Junior Team,” wrote Montoya,” who is set to compete in F3 this year with Hitech GP. “This past year, I became part of the brand’s athletes and now we will work together for the ultimate goal: F1.”
