Max Verstappen returned to the top in FP2 in F1 Monaco GP with Charles Leclerc in second ahead of Fernando Alonso.

A familiar face was back on top in FP1 in F1 Monaco GP as Red Bull’s Verstappen was quickest in with a 1m12.462s lap after multiple attempts on the same set of soft tyres. He pushed out Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who dropped to third by Charles Leclerc.

The later stages saw Leclerc bump Sainz, who caused a red flag after touching the barriers in the Swimming Pool section in what was a repeat of Leclerc’s crash at the same spot. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso showed good pace in fourth.

After a delayed start due to work on the front-end of the McLaren, Lando Norris was quick in fifth from Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton as Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was only seventh ahead of Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas, who also had pace in the Top 10.

The Alpine pair rounded out the Top 10 with Pierre Gasly in ninth and Esteban Ocon 10th. In a bit of low key result, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll was 11th from Mercedes’ George Russell where both looked a bit out of place outside the Top 10.

Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu was 13th ahead of two pairs from Haas and AlphaTauri, where Kevin Magnussen in 14th led Nico Hulkenberg, Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries. The Japanese driver had a moment in the chicane where he hit the barrier.

But he managed to bring the car home, as McLaren’s Oscar Piastri was 18th ahead of the Williams pair of Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant, where the team managed to fix up the car of the Thai driver after his late FP1 crash.
