Mini: Martinius Stenshorne defends from Badoer’s attacks and win WSK Open Cup

Norwegian driver Martinius Stenshorne won first WSK Open Cup edition in Mini at South Garda Karting (Lonato, Italy). Parolin driver leaded a double win for Parolin after his team mate Brando Badoer finished second. Energy Corse’s Alex Powell completed the podium.

Belgian Ean Eyckmans (Baby Race Driver Academy) took the pole position in Friday qualifying practice, only 0.010 seconds aheaad of Jamaican driver Alex Powell, who would be the surprise star of the weekend.

Energy Corse’s Andrea Antonelli was the driver who dominated the qualifying heats. Martinius Stenshorne also used this heats to recovery and climb until the fifth position.

In prefinal B Ean Eyckmans won again clearly, with a gap of more than three seconds.

In prefinal A we could see the battle between Energy’s drivers Andrea Antonelli and Alex Powell and Parolin driver’s Martinius Stenshorne and Brando Badoer.

In the final, Andrea Antonelli kept the first position until the third lap, when Formula K Junior Team’s Joel Bergstrom passed him. Swedish driver and Stenshorne competed for the victory during all the race. Stenshorne defended a lot his position and finally he achieved kept the first position and won WSK Open Cup. Badoer finished second after he started from the sixth position and Alex Powell ended third, achieving an historic podium for Jamaican motorsport.
