Mick Schumacher took flag to flag victory in the first race at Lausitzring ahead of Kami Laliberté and Thomas Preining. The race was marked by a huge crash in the first lap involving eleven drivers, causing a red flag interruption for 15 minutes.

Mick Schumacher (Prema Powerteam) started on pole, alongside him stood Kami Laliberté (Van Amersfoort Racing). Bad start from Laliberté but he managed to keep P2 at first turn. Schumacher did not do a better start but eventually managed to keep his place as well.

In the second sector, mayhem happened in the field as Nicklas Nielsen (Neuhauser Racing) and Sophia Flörsch (Motopark) spun and took no less than five drivers out with him, and more drivers got damage on their cars trying to avoid the crash zone. The red flag was deployed as the cars blocked the track. Schumacher still lead the race at the red flag ahead of Laliberté and Jannes Fittje (US Racing). The drivers who were out of the race after the red flag were Flörsch, Laaksonen (Motopark), Engstler (Liqui Moly Team Engstler), Gachot (US Racing), Brandt (Lechner Racing), Nielsen, Söderström (ADAC Berlin Brandenburg), Van Uitert (Jenzer Motorsport), Kratz (Jenzer Motorsport), Aberdein (Motopark), Wolf (KUG-Motorsport) and Hanses (Team Timo Scheider) who could not start the race.

With 12 minutes to go, the race restarted behind safety car for two laps before the race went green again. Schumacher built a good gap to Laliberté at the restart, the Canadian right under Fittje’s pressure. The first green lap happened with no problem. Further back in the field, the battle is hard for points. Thomas Prening (Lechner Racing) gains the advantage on Fittje for P3. Diego Santini (Jenzer Motorsport), while fighting with his Jenzer teammate Fabio Scherer spun but managed to get back on track.

Schumacher managed to build a comfortable gap to Laliberté while Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing) got quite aggressive for P5. Preining, during the last three laps, started putting huge pressure on Laliberté for second place but the Canadian eventually kept his place to the chequered flag.

Mick Schumacher wins the first Lausitzring race of the week-end, his second victory of the season ahead of Kami Laliberté and Thomas Preining. The rookie podium consists of Felipe Drugovich in P5, Juri Vips in P7 and Leonard Hoogenboom in P10.
