Miami GP has been officially confirmed to join the 2022 F1 calendar as first look of the track near Hard Rock Stadium is released.
The long-awaited and much-fought Miami GP is officially confirmed to take place in 2022 season after an announcement from F1 ahead of the Imola GP race. While the date is yet to be ascertained, the venue will be Hard Rock Stadium as proposed.
The circuit will have 19 corners and will be 5.41km long with three straights – which gives a potential of three DRS zones too. The estimated speed is around 320km/h. The Miami GP becomes the second F1 race in the USA after Circuit of the Americas in current schedule.
It is the 11th venue in overall list of races held in USA. The deal between F1 and the organisers is complete despite opposition from the local communities. However, in the latest meeting, a resolution was passed to allow for the race to happen finally.
There are certain promises which the organisers will have to meet, though, after passing the resolution. As the F1 release noted, the grand prix will provide an additional tourist boost and economic impact to local businesses in the greater Miami region.
Additionally, the promoter will be working closely with the local community to ensure an allotment of discounted tickets for Miami Gardens residents, ensuring they have the opportunity to experience the thrill of the sport.
There will be also programmes to support local businesses and the community to ensure they get the full benefits of the race being in Miami Gardens, including a STEM education programme through F1 in Schools as well as the opportunity for local businesses to be part of the race weekend.
