Roberto Merhi has been fastest in the final free practice for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series at the German circuit Nürburgring. Pierre Gasly was second and Carlos Sainz third, finishing less than a tenth of the guy from Castellón.
Will Stevens (Strakka Racing) has dominated the start of the session although times have steadily improved. A lap that would remain as the fastest for a while longer when Meindert van Buuren (Pons Racing) suffered an off-track at Turn 5 and slammed into the fence, breaking his front wing and right front suspension.
Once the action resumed on track, Marlon Stockinger (Lotus) improved his time and got in first. Many drivers waited in pits, missing 10 minutes till the end, Tunjo (Pons Racing) would take advantage to lead the session before the times improved in the last minutes of the practice.
Buller (Arden Motorsport), Sainz (Dams), Laine (Strakka Racing) and Gasly (Arden Motorsport) improved their times and it seemed that the French of the Red Bull Junior was going to be the fastest of the session but eventually to 0 and the checkered flag on the track, Roberto Merhi achieved the fastest time of the day.
