Mercedes has unveiled its 2019 F1 car and livery with a shakedown in place at Silverstone for the new W10 EQ Power+.

Having won five world titles on the trot in 2018, Mercedes is now gunning for their sixth one in the constructors’ championship in 2019 as is Lewis Hamilton in the drivers’ side, while Valtteri Bottas is eyeing his first.

With few days left for the official testing to begin, the 2019 F1 car was revealed by Mercedes as they also have a shakedown in place at the Silverstone circuit with both Hamilton and Bottas getting their turns in the W10.

The German manufacturer has been teasing for a camo livery all-week long – the same colour scheme which they have used to test their road cars but they eventually revealed the silver livery having bits of black and green – a different shade of silver has been used.

“The 2019 season will be a new challenge for all of us,” said Toto Wolff. “The regulations have changed quite substantially. We have to start from scratch, we need to prove ourselves again – against our own expectations and against our competitors.

“We start the season with zero points, so we’re taking nothing for granted and there’s absolutely no feeling of entitlement to be at the front. In fact, with the regulation change for the new season, every team can have a shot at the title and we’re seeing all of them as a potential threat.

“We’re eager to hit the ground running in Barcelona, to benchmark ourselves against our own simulations and see if our predictions materialise on track. We will focus on ourselves, building up performance and hopefully be ready when the first really competitive session starts on Saturday in Melbourne.”

The team faced a stiff challenge from Ferrari in 2018 but overcame it handsomely in the end to take the championship at ease. The inroads made by Ferrari seemed genuine and if it continues the same, it will be another back and forth season.
