Mercedes held a special F1 showrun in Puerto Rico in association with adidas and singer Bad Bunny, with Esteban Gutierrez driving.
Puerto Rico made history today as over 9,000 people from across the island proudly gathered along San Juan’s iconic Puente Dos Hermanos to witness a landmark Formula 1 demo run hosted by adidas Originals, global superstar Bad Bunny, and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. The moment marked the first time a Formula 1 car has ever raced on Puerto Rican soil.
Fans began gathering overnight in anticipation, staking out the best views along the iconic bridge that connects Condado to Old San Juan. Led by Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez, the run kicked off just after 9:00AM and delivered a sequence of high-octane moments that included live burnouts, donuts, and laps that left fans in excitement.
Timed to coincide with Bad Bunny’s record-setting No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, the activation also marked the official celebration of the artist as an honorary member of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team and a new product launch with adidas Originals.
Following the demo, fans were invited to explore a curated exhibit of racing suits, gloves, and legacy gear from the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS archives, offering an intimate look at motorsport’s past while celebrating its future on the island. In a time when Puerto Rico is reclaiming its place on the global stage, today’s demo served as a powerful declaration of the island’s cultural reach and global presence.
