The young Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton fan, Harry Shaw, who became a household name after the F1 Spanish GP, has sadly passed away.
Prior to the Spanish GP at Barcelona, Hamilton and Mercedes received beautiful messages from a Surrey-based fan, Shaw, who was dealing with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of terminal bone cancer, since last year in August.
He was given just a week’s time to live on April 29, 2019 by the doctors, but by God’s grace Shaw lived further than that. However, the family has now revealed that the young kid died on Saturday, June 1, 2019.

“It is with the greatest of sadness and most broken of hearts we have to inform you Harry slipped away on Saturday evening,” the statement read. “He fought to the very end and we were both with him for his final moments. His pain and suffering is over.
“It is impossible to imagine life without Harry and the hole he will leave in our lives. We are SO proud of Harry and everything he achieved in his life and the legacy he has created to help others.
“We would ask for no flowers and if you should wish to contribute please continue supporting Harry’s Giant Pledge. We miss him so much. Love James, Charlotte and Georgia.” The family ended their message by quoting A.A Milne.
“How lucky I am to have something which makes saying goodbye so hard.” The news comes at a time when everyone at Mercedes including Hamilton are recovering from the loss of the three-time F1 champion and non-executive chairman Niki Lauda.
Hamilton was particularly touched by Shaw’s message as he dedicated his Spanish GP victory to Shaw. In fact, he along with the team did something which not many wouldn’t do as they sent down a Mercedes F1 car to Shaw’s home along with the Barcelona trophy.
