McLaren showed its first renders of MCL40 at the onset of the F1 2026 Barcelona shakedown, with Red Bull showing its own RB22 post the livery launch.
While McLaren is not on track for Day 1 running of F1 2026 Barcelona shakedown, the Woking-based team has released first renders of its MCL40 aboard a full black livery. Their official launch is not before February 9 – just before the start of the second test in Bahrain.
The full livery will be launched on that day, with McLaren to run a test black livery in Barcelona. The reigning champions has kick-started the media spree as well, with Andrea Stella speaking to selected media along with some of the heads of the technical department.
McLaren is expected to hit the Barcelona track either on Day 2 or at best from Day 3 onward to fulfill their quota of three days from the five days given by the FIA for shakedown. In the meantime, others have started out already in Barcelona, with more than five already running on Day 1.
There are seven teams in action, with the likes of McLaren, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Williams missing. Out of which, Williams will not be part of the shakedown at all. Red Bull is also in action after they showed its RB22 for the first time minutes before the start of the shakedown.
Much like Visa Cash App RB, even Red Bull only showed a base model during its livery launch. While the sister team’s car was spotted during its Imola shakedown, the senior team only showed its hand now, with the fresh coat of paint and new Ford Racing logos.
