McLaren Racing has promoted Andrea Stella to the role of Racing Director ahead of the start of the 2020 F1 season.

The McLaren management shuffle continues as its Performance Director, Stella, has been promoted to the Racing Director role from December 2019 onward ahead of the 2020 F1 season. The Italian is to continue working under Team Principal Andreas Seidl.

Ever since Zak Brown came on board as Chief Executive Officer, the American has made several changes and hired multiple personnel including Seidl. With this change, the team principal has Stella in Racing Director role, while James Key is the Technical head.

Key was hired by McLaren from Toro Rosso in March 2019, while Piers Thynne was promoted to the Production Director in July 2019 under Seidl. The trackside team, meanwhile, is completed by Paul James who is the Team Manager.

Among the other roles present at the McLaren Technology Center, Brown has Mark Waller who works as Managing Director in Sales & Marketing, with Daniel Gallo is the Director of People & Culture while Laura Bowden heads the Finance team.

In Abu Dhabi, Brown told media including FormulaRapida.net about such changes to continue with McLaren as it aims to get back at the front after years of struggle. Amid the hiring, it has parted ways with Pat Fry but he is under gardening leave at the moment.

Fry is to join Renault as the French manufacturer announced after the end of the 2019 F1 season but his joining date remains in question with Brown stating that July is the possible month of his gardening leave coming to an end.

After a difficult 2018, McLaren had a major breakthrough in 2019 when it finished fourth in the constructors’ championship with a podium to its name too. The revamped line-up of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris worked wonders for the British F1 team.
