McLaren presents a special Google Gemini livery for the F1 British GP

McLaren has unveiled a unique livery for the upcoming British Grand Prix of Formula 1, where the team’s cars will compete with a predominantly chrome design. This initiative is part of their ongoing collaboration with Google, which started in 2022.

The new livery is inspired by the design of the McLaren M2B, the team’s first car, unveiled at the Monaco GP in 1966. This year also marks the millennium of McLaren’s participation in F1 races, a fact that was recently celebrated during the Monaco event with a special livery and the presence of the 1998-99 world champion, Mika Hakkinen.

According to Louise McEwen, marketing director of McLaren Racing, the Silverstone livery is a tribute to the team’s birth and to everything they have achieved since then. “The McLaren M2B represents the beginning of a journey marked by constant innovation and belief in possibility. This design captures the essence of that philosophy,” she stated.

McEwen also highlighted that the collaboration with Google Gemini is crucial for the team, as they explore how technology can create new opportunities for innovation and performance improvement both on and off the track.

Additionally, fans will be able to get a close look at this livery by attending a joint McLaren and Gemini event taking place at the Truman Brewery in East London this Thursday.

Marvin Chow, vice president of consumer marketing and artificial intelligence at Google, commented on the excitement of working with McLaren on their racing strategy and how the brand showcases the potential of AI to turn creative ideas into practical realities.

McLaren is the second team to launch a special livery for the British GP, following Williams, which has also presented a commemorative design for its home race.
