Maximilian Paul leaves the hospital and shows signs of hope after the serious accident

The condition of Maximilian Paul, DTM driver, shows a positive reaction following the accident at Norisring. This is confirmed by the head of his team, Gottfried Grasser, who has announced that Paul has been discharged from the Nuremberg hospital.

Maximilian, who suffered a tibia fracture, fibula and a spinal injury, is now at home to begin his recovery. His partner, Patricija Stalidzane, recently shared an image of Paul with the hashtag #FREEMAX on social media, showing him standing and without a cast, holding the crutches above his head.

Recovery and future expectations

A few days before being discharged, Paul was seen smiling in his hospital bed, supported by his father, Tobias Paul. With these signs of improvement, the driver has announced a break to take care of himself and hopes to return soon: ‘I am taking a break to take care of my body and health, and I will come back stronger.’

Currently, a return to competition seems impossible due to the severity of his injuries. A potential comeback at the end of the season had been speculated, but the current circumstances make it difficult.

Status of Paul’s vehicle

Regarding Paul’s Lamborghini, which was damaged in the accident, the condition of the vehicle is uncertain. An initial report indicates that the major damage occurred in the front, but it is repairable. Grasser expressed that the availability of parts is a challenge, adding the need to find a replacement for Paul.

Kelvin van der Linde’s preparations

Another driver involved in the accident, Kelvin van der Linde, is already training in preparation for his return. With the support of the Academy Performance Center of Red Bull, the South African is preparing for the upcoming competition in Oschersleben, after having suffered bruises from the impact.
