Maximilian Günther joins FIA F2 with Arden

Maximilian Günther will ascend to FIA ​​F2 this 2018. After several years running European FIA F3, the German driver will dispute the new season with Arden International.


Arden International has completed his line-up for the coming season of 2018. The English team has made official the promotion of Maximilian Günther to the series, thus accompanying rookie Nizei Fukuzumi.

In this way, complete renewal of Arden for 2018. With the departure of Sean Gelael to Prema and Norman Nato to the European Le Mans Series with Racing Engineering, the line-up has had to be completely renewed. Since the English team have wanted to bet on the talent below, allowing the promotions of Fukuzumi of the GP3 Series and Günther of the FIA ​​F3.

Günther, 20 years old, started his career on cars in 2013. He competed in the ADAC Formel Masters in which he was runner-up with two victories and 11 podiums. Repeated category and result the following year, before in 2015 he went on to play his first year in the European FIA F3 with Mücke Motorsport. He finished 8th and won his first race, although before finishing the season he went to Prema to run the last round.

With the Italian squad he competed the following two seasons in the FIA ​​F3, being runner-up in 2016 with 4 victories and 13 podiums, and third last year with 5 victories and 16 podiums. In between, he made his only participation in the Macau GP of 2016, having to retire the historic race.

“I’m absolutely ready to take the next step and can’t wait to go up against the World’s best young drivers. I know that this move will be successful with the backing of Arden’s experienced team. Many thanks also to my partners and sponsors, who are supporting me as I progress”, said Günther when he was confirmed as the new FIA F2 driver.

On the other hand, the team manager, Kenny Kirwan, also spoke about it in the team’s official statement. “We are delighted to welcome Maxi into the team. He has been extremely competitive and consistent in European FIA Formula 3 over the past number of years. Together with Nirei, we believe that we will start the season with one of the strongest and most consistent rookie driver pairings in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, he concluded.
