Max Verstappen wins under rain in Norisring

Max Verstappen got the win magisterially in the second race, in front of King and Auer. The rain in the middle of the race made Ocon and Blomqvist lose a lot of points after having an incident.

After a good start Verstappen holded the first position and Blomqvist stole the second place to Esteban Ocon. Auer, seventh in the grid, made it to get the fourth position while Rosenqvist was following King from the sixth position. After turn one an accident involving five drivers made safety car stay for three laps.

Stabilized the race Gelael made an error so two drivers behind him would try the overtake. He defended well until squeezed Serralles in an incident that merited him the drive-through.

The rain was starting lightly and Tatiana Calderón would be the first injured. She had to leave the car next to the barrier after Roy Nissany collided into her back, making safety car leaving again the pit-lane. Rain was heavier and the stewards stopped the race with a red flag that would allow teams fit out rain tyres.

Race was restarted under a strong rain. King overtook Auer and Ocon wanted to make the same to Blomqvist but while doing so in the first turn he broke Blomqvist’s suspension and safety car was again in the track. Ocon was given a drive-through penalty for that collision, ruining his race.

Race was too long and time limit was imposed, giving Verstappen way to his fifth in-a-row victory. Perfect driving over water, reaching the finish line nine seconds before Jordan King who was six seconds away from third classified, Lucas Auer.

Third race in Norisring will be after DTM, at 3:30 pm local time.
