Max Verstappen to race in the GT World Challenge finale at Portimão

Max Verstappen will contest the season-closing round of the GT World Challenge powered by AWS at Portimão (16-18 October), driving the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO for Verstappen Racing.

The Dutchman will share the car with the team’s full-season driver, Chris Lulham, and experienced British driver Ben Barnicoat, in a three-hour Endurance Cup race that will close out the season.

“I am looking forward to it,” Verstappen said. “It is going to be a busy seven weeks, but I will enjoy it. Let’s see what we can do at Portimão. I love the track and being in Portugal, so we will try to have a good weekend.”

Verstappen Racing has competed in the GT World Challenge since 2025 and stepped up to the Pro class this year with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, scoring the team’s first overall victory at Magny-Cours and a first Endurance Cup podium at the Nürburgring.

A grand finale in Portugal

Portimão will also decide the champions of the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli, the GT4 European Series and the McLaren Trophy Europe, with a grid of around 60 GT3 cars and more than eight hours of racing in total.
