Mawson wins a controversial Race 2 at Nürburgring

Joey Mawson has taken the victory in Nürburgring this morning for Race 2 of ADAC Formel 4. The VAR driver increase the championship lead after a fight with Schumacher who has been penalized. Vips and Nielsen completes the podium.

Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing) defended well the first place at the start against, Mick Schumacher (Prema Powerteam) who overtook Mike David Ortmann (ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) for second position.

The German at the end of first lap, made contact with Juan Manuel Correa (Prema Powerteam) and had to retire. This was helpful for Juri Vips (Prema Powerteam) who took third place ahead of Nicklas Nielsen (Neuhauser Racing).

At front, Schumacher made contact with Mawson taking the first position but, the steward’s penalized Mick for an avoidable contact. He drop to 23th position but during the race he managed to finish 15th.

Simo Laaksonen (Motopark) had a poor race today. First he was passed by his team mate Aberdln. And in the last stages of the race, made contact with Müller-Crepon at Coca Cola chicane.

But at the end, Joey Mawson took another victory ahead of five rookies (Vips, Nielsen, Correa, Verschoor, Deugovich). Thomas Preining, Kim Luis Schramm, Aberdein and Piro completes the top 10.

With Ortmann and Schumacher problems, Mawson took a very good advantage in the drivers’ championship. The VAR driver is leading by 64 points with Schumacher, 125 with Ortmann and 143 with Schramm.
