Maverick Viñales has expressed his need for support from the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team while he struggles to regain his competitiveness after a series of injuries. The Spaniard experienced a disappointing day at the German GP, where he ended up being the slowest of all the riders, causing serious concern about his performance.

In the qualifying session, Viñales only managed to secure 19th position, more than a second behind the pace of the fastest riders. In the sprint race, things did not improve, as he finished in last place, over eight seconds behind the rider in front of him, Cal Crutchlow, who replaced Johann Zarco.

Sunday was equally complicated. After spending most of the race in the last positions, he decided to enter the pits with four laps still to run, admitting that he did not have the physical condition necessary to continue.

Following this weekend at Sachsenring, Viñales reflected that his recovery is not progressing as expected. He commented that in previous races he had shown positive signs after the shoulder operation, but now he feels frustrated by the lack of support from his team.

“I currently need support from the team, but what I get is criticism,” Viñales declared. “It’s hard to keep going like this, as sometimes it seems like others are happy to see me, but at other times, it feels like I’m a stranger.”

The Spaniard underwent surgery at the end of April when a loose screw was removed from his shoulder, which had been inserted during a previous operation due to a fall. So far, despite showing some moments of speed, he has not been able to prove to KTM that he deserves a new contract for the 2027 season.

Viñales has expressed that his recovery is becoming increasingly complicated and that he is eager to be competitive again after a year full of incidents. “I have no strength on the bike; I can’t help but slide in every corner,” he explains, acknowledging that he does not know if his problems can be resolved and that he has even considered seeking help from Marc Márquez’s doctors. The rider had hoped for better results, but his surgeon has indicated that he will not fully recover until Indonesia, which has become a significant handicap for him.
