Martin Brundle, analyst and former Formula 1 driver, has expressed his confidence in Lewis Hamilton, stating that the seven-time champion has the capabilities to achieve victories with Ferrari. Hamilton joined the Maranello team in 2025, and despite a year of adaptation, the 2026 season has started with a better outlook.
Currently, Ferrari occupies the second position in the 2026 constructors’ championship, with Hamilton and his teammate Charles Leclerc placed in fourth and third position respectively in the drivers’ standings. Following skepticism about Hamilton’s performance during 2025, Brundle has highlighted that the new regulations suit his driving style better compared to the ground effect era.
Brundle commented that “Lewis seems to enjoy these new tools more” and emphasized that Ferrari has shown renewed competitiveness. “With last year’s cars, which were brutal and did not suit his style,” he added.
On the way to the fourth race of the season, the Miami Grand Prix, Brundle believes that the competition is still quite open, despite the initial dominance of Mercedes. Kimi Antonelli leads the standings with a nine-point advantage over his teammate George Russell. “Any of the drivers from the top four teams could lift the championship this year,” concluded Brundle.
