Marrakesh and Sanya races features in the confirmed 2019/20 FIA Formula E Championship calendar released after World Motor Sport Council meet.

With the FIA WMSC meet done, the 2018/19 Formula E calendar was confirmed with plenty of changes made from the provisional one. As known, a round in Jakarta was added in one of the TBC slots but the second one was filled up on Friday.

It is confirmed that the March 21 slot in China will be taken up by Sanya, which hosted the Formula E race in 2018/19 as well. It will be the sole Chinese ePrix though after the organisers were forced to replace Hong Kong from the calendar.

With the political troubles brewing, it was decided to do away with the race – at least for Season 6 – and probably return if all settles down. The race has been replaced by Marrakesh, with the Moroccan ePrix returning to the Formula E calendar.

It was omitted from the provisional Formula E release but now finds its place back for 2019/20 at least. Apart from these two, the date change for Berlin was also confirmed with the German race to take place now after the Jakarta event and before New York.

As expected, the 2019/20 Formula E season kicks-off with a double-header in Saudi Arabia on November 22-23 and will be followed by Chile (January 18) and Mexico (February 15) in the South American region, with Marrakesh (February 29) a standalone.

The circus will then head to China (March 21) and move to Europe then with Rome (April 4) and Paris (April 18), with Seoul (May 3) and Jakarta (June 6) next. They will move back to Europe for Germany in June 21 and fly to New York on July 11.

The season will end the with a double-header in London on July 25-26 to complete 12 rounds and 14 Formula E races. “The 2019/20 Formula E looks like it will be the closest and most competitive season we’ve ever had in our short history – in terms of manufacturers competing, thanks to Mercedes-Benz and Porsche joining the line-up, and with the amount of incredible capital cities set to showcase the most competitive line-up in motorsport.

“We’re proud to be taking our message of racing for a cleaner future, faster, to five continents around the world and look forward to more fans and families enjoying all we have to offer at our events. Let’s see if we can see an early pecking order at pre-season testing in only a couple of weeks. Season 6 has well and truly arrived,” said Alberto Longo.

In terms of clashes with two championships where the current Formula E racers also compete, the ePrix in China is on the same weekend as WEC’s Sebring, while the New York ePrix is on same weekend as DTM’s Norisring round.
