Honda’s Marc Marquez topped the post-Czech GP MotoGP test at Brno with a late lap from Tech 3 Yamaha’s Johann Zarco putting him in second.

The Spaniard clocked a 1m55.209s to Zarco’s 1m55.342s, which the Frenchman only set in the final 30 minutes of the day. He pushed Honda’s Dani Pedrosa (1m55.399s) to third with Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso (1m55.517s) finishing fourth.

The Italian headed the standings mid-day from teammate Jorge Lorenzo but were cleared by Honda riders in the afternoon session. Lorenzo (1m55.609s) was fifth after he set his time on only his third flying lap.

Marquez did the most laps with 77 while Zarco was next best with 71. The Ducati riders Dovizioso and Lorenzo only did 40 and 45 respectively. Meanwhile, LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow (1m55.771s) finished seventh from Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi (1m55.918s).

The Italian was without his teammate Maverick Vinales who pulled out due to pain in his shoulder. Pramac Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci (1m55.939s) slotted in eighth from Suzuki’s Alex Rins (1m55.986s) as Tech 3 Yamaha’s Hafizh Syarhin (1m56.032s) rounded the Top 10.

Suzuki’s Andrea Iannone (1m56.111s) slotted in 11th from Aprilia’s Alexis Espargaro (1m56.366s) – the duo also setting their quick times early in the day. KTM’s Bradley Smith (1m56.566s) was 13th with LCR Honda’s Takaaki Nakagami (1m56.622s) in 14th.

Marc VDS Honda’s Franco Morbidelli (1m56.697s) was 15th from Aprilia’s Scott Redding (1m56.855s), Pramac Ducati’s Jack Miller (1m56.885s), Marc VDS Honda’s Thomas Luthi (1m57.034s), Suzuki’s Sylvain Guintoli (1m57.843s) and Honda’s Hiroshi Aoyama (1m59.334s).

Like Vinales, Honda’s Stefan Bradl also gave the test a miss after his Lap 1 crash in Czech GP, while KTM’s Pol Espargaro missed due to a broken collarbone in warm-up crash. Apart from their own parts, the teams tested the 2019 spec of Michelin tyres as well.

The test ran well for most of the riders apart from Miller, Espargaro and Iannone who suffered crash during the day and had to sit out of the remainder of the testing.
