Márquez continues untouchable in USA

Marc Márquez has taken his sixth consecutive victory in American soil, which allow the Catalan to join the championship battle with Yamaha rider. Rossi –second today, is the new leader of it thanks to the retirement from Viñales. Pedrosa completes the podium.

At the start, Pedrosa starting 4^th was able to take the lead of the race ahead of Márquez, Rossi, Viñales and Lorenzo (Ducati). But the Ducati rider at the back-straight overtook Viñales for a few seconds before dropping to 7^th, with Zarco taking fifth position.

On lap 2, Yamaha rider, Maverick Viñales crashed at turn 18. He wasn’t the unique driver who had to retire today, they did it also: Abraham, Baz, Pol Espargaró, Aleix Espargaró, Álvaro Bautista and Sam Lowes.

Back in the lead, Zarco tried the manoeuvre on Rossi for third, but they contact, the Italian cut the chicane and both kept their position but “The Doctor” gained advantage cutting the chicane, which was a penalty of 0.3 seconds.

Meanwhile the Honda’s were fighting for the victory, and after a few lead changes, Marquez pulled a gap over Pedrosa to seal his 30^th win in MotoGP and the 6^th consecutive in American soil.

Despite this action, Pedrosa saw how was overtook by Rossi in the last stages of the race for the final podium positions. Behind them, Cruchlow overtook Zarco for fourth place, while Lorenzo finished 9^th after been overtaken by Iannone and Petrucci.

In the championship battle, Rossi leads with 6 points more than Viñales. Márquez joins the battle with only 18 points less than the Italian.
