Marc Marquez has been cleared to make his MotoGP return for this weekend’s Americas GP at the Circuit of the Americas.

A day after his private test onboard a production Honda machine, Marquez has been cleared to compete and he is flying into Austin to take part in the Americas GP at the Circuit of the Americas. The American circuit is a happy hunting ground for him.

Marquez rode the Honda CBR600RR around the Alcarras circuit on Tuesday to ready himself for the grand prix. Since his initial incident back in 2020, the multiple MotoGP champion has missed about 19 races from the 30+ run so far.

“Of course I am very happy to be back, it’s a great feeling to return and especially to do it at one of my favourite tracks,” he said. “No matter the situation, I really enjoy riding in Texas and have incredible memories there.

“We have some work to do after missing two races and the whole Argentina weekend so I am not here to set one target at the moment. There’s many things to do and consider, but the important thing is that we are back on the bike this weekend.”

While the doctors have cleared Marquez to return, he will still be anxious for the practice session because that will be the ultimate test for him. Riding a production bike is one thing, while riding the actual premier machine is another.
