Marcus Armstrong wins in Oschersleben

The kiwi dominated the first of three races in Oschersleben with Jonathan Aberdein and Felipe Drugovich completing the top 3.

Marcus Armstrong took the lead while pole sitter, Kamil Laliberte, lost a lot of places after stalling his car. Jonathan Aberdein and Felipe Drugovich followed him, on a large train of cars separated by a few tenths of a second. Championship leader, Jüri Vips, gained four places on the start after starting from ninth place.

Aberdein set the fastest lap of the race and closed the gap with Armstrong with 20 minutes to go. Motopark driver and Drugovich were the only drivers that could follow Armstrong, while the 8-cars first group was reduced to only 3.

But Drugovich couldn’t follow their pace, and lost a second with Aberdein with 10 minutes to go. That left the fight for the win with only two contenders. Frederik Vesti overtook Michael Waldherr for ninth after more than 10 minutes trying.

Jüri Vips and David Malukas caught Fabio Scherer, but the leader of the championship couldn’t overtook him, and the American driver passed him for fifth place.

Armstrong kept the lead of the race to cross the checked flag in first place. Aberdein and Drugovich followed him in the podium, with Scherer, Malukas, Vips, Schramm, Flörch, Vesti and Waldherr in the top 10.
