Marco Bezzecchi minimizes his options at the German GP: ‘I’m in a lot of pain’

Marco Bezzecchi, rider for Aprilia Racing, approaches the German Grand Prix with caution after losing the lead in the world championship in the last race held in the Netherlands. Due to a high-speed crash during the event in Assen, Bezzecchi admits he is suffering from “a lot of pain” and that he will not recklessly seek to recover points in his return to the track.

The Italian rider has had a complicated season, with notable incidents in the last races, including a fall that made him feel the pressure before the last contest. After an accident during the Hungarian Grand Prix, he arrived in the Czech Republic with a bruised body and this past week added another crash to his already long list of setbacks.

Despite the adversities, Bezzecchi appeared in good spirits during a press conference at Sachsenring, where he shared details of the Assen accident. “I went into the corner a bit too fast, and upon hitting the throttle I lost the front. It’s a common mistake but in a fast corner, so the crash was more difficult,” he explained.

Although he has not suffered significant fractures, recovery has not been easy. “It hasn’t been a simple week. The fall in Assen was hard. I don’t have broken bones, but my whole body aches except for my arms. I’m very happy to be here, but I’m not at 100% physically,” Bezzecchi pointed out.

With the goal of managing his energy and approaching the race with caution, he has acknowledged that his plan for the weekend is not the usual one. “Right now, my goal is not to fight for the podium or the win. I will take it session by session. I just want to get on the bike tomorrow morning at FP1 and I hope to feel good,” he concluded.

Before the incident in Assen, Bezzecchi was leading the championship, but now his teammate, Jorge Martín, has moved seven points ahead of him, taking the initiative in the title fight.
