Marco Bezzecchi, leader of the world championship, has expressed his concern about his performance on Saturdays, after suffering his fourth accident in a sprint of the season at the Brno circuit. This incident took place during the ninth sprint race of the year, and has left Bezzecchi without points in almost half of the Saturday races so far.
On this occasion, the accident occurred a few laps from the checkered flag, when Bezzecchi was in fifth position, just ahead of his Aprilia teammate, Jorge Martin. This fall has cut his championship lead to only 15 points, while Marc Márquez, who is also competing for attention in the standings, has closed in with a third position in Brno.
After the race, Bezzecchi was even more reflective in his press conference. “I’m wondering why Saturdays are so difficult for me,” he said. “At the beginning of the championship, I thought that a mistake was acceptable, but now I’m a little sad about it. Now you have to think about the next race and how to improve.”
Despite his problems in sprint races, Bezzecchi has shown better form in Sunday races, with three victories including the recent one at the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello. “The most important thing is to think about tomorrow, to work to achieve improvement, and to finish the weekend as well as possible,” concluded the rider from Rimini.
