Driver Racing Engineering Raffaele Marcello get pole in qualifying at Silverstone GP2 Series. This is the first pole for member of the young program Ferrari Driver Academy. Second time showed leader of the championship Jolyon Palmer, third – driver Russian Time Mitch Evans.
From first minutes of the session between the drivers unfolded very tight battle for the lead. Climbed to the top spot Marchello, Palmer, Evans and other drivers. Best time left for Marchello, who drove lap 1:40.445. Carlin driver Julian Leal, who lost in the first attempt on the leader just 0.039 seconds, turned out with only the 4th.
In the second attempt much decided traffic. On the highway at Silverstone it was important to keep as far away from rivals, as otherwise the car lost aerodynamic efficiency in the corners. But as all 26 drivers were on the track at the same time, it was a daunting task.
As a result, none of the leaders to improve their time and could not. The only driver in the top ten, which is able to play a couple of positions, became his debut in the series Marco Sorensen, drive the best lap already under the checkered flag and took seventh place in the end.
