Marc VDS Racing Moto2 team says everything fine after one of their bikes caught fire in the pit box at Motegi nearby Aprilia and Suzuka garages.
With Twin Ring Motegi returning to the MotoGP calendar after a gap two years due to COVID-19, the weekend started on a little bad note for Marc VDS Racing Moto2 team. One of their bikes caught fire late on Thursday evening ahead of practice session.
The pit box of Marc VDS is situated between the MotoGP garages of Aprilia and Suzuki. There was fire after one of the bikes caught it but the reason behind it is unknown. There was quick intervention by the firefighters and it was under control immediately.
Despite the bikes catching fire, there was no damage reported while Marc VDS also clarified that none of its crew members were harmed. There was smoke all around, though, with several of the other team personnel rushing to help the Moto2 team.
“Fortunately all the team members are well and safe despite the fire in our garage. Thanks a lot to everybody who is caring and especially to those on site helping to control the situation,” wrote the team.
