Marc Márquez keeps caution before the MotoGP victory

The Ducati Team rider, Marc Márquez, has acknowledged that he is in a very favorable position to achieve his tenth world title, but he has warned that there is still work to be done before he can celebrate. In the Sepang race, Márquez gained a 44-point advantage over the second-placed Jorge Martín, currently injured, and 67 points over Marco Bezzecchi.

After a convincing victory in Malaysia, Márquez could be crowned champion at the next Qatar Grand Prix if he surpasses Martín by 30 points and Bezzecchi by eight. His dominance at Sepang was notable, overtaking pole-sitter and brother, Àlex Márquez, to lead the race and finish with more than four seconds ahead of the second-placed Pedro Acosta.

Reflecting on his performance, Márquez said: ‘When it’s your day, it’s your day,’ adding that he was fully focused and ready to take risks, but that his mindset remains unchanged. ‘We must stay focused, there are few races ahead, but many opportunities. I don’t want to fall into the trap of thinking that I’ve got it figured out,’ admitted the Catalan rider.

The next immediate step for Márquez is to recover before the trip to Qatar; ‘The next moment is to go back home and rest. We will arrive in Qatar on Thursday to prepare with the same mindset,’ he explained.

Additionally, he has improved his physical condition, overcoming issues with his elbow and shoulder, acknowledging that the intense work during the second half of the season has helped him maintain the necessary pace to fight for the championship.
