Marc Márquez warns about his rival Jorge Martín in Sepang: “Adrenaline is the best painkiller”

The leader of the MotoGP championship, Marc Márquez, has expressed caution regarding the potential of Jorge Martín, who could compete in the Grand Prix of Sepang this weekend. Martín suffered a wrist fracture during the sprint race in Australia, leaving him just 10 points behind Márquez in the championship standings.

Despite his accident, Martín has been declared fit to participate in the first practice session in Malaysia, although his competition is expected to be limited if he chooses to compete.

His teammate, Márquez, does not believe that Martín will have difficulties performing. Recently, the MotoGP officials implemented stricter protocols regarding the suitability of riders following their own experience with an injury in Jerez in 2020.

“I believe that if they have declared him fit, it means he is in condition to race. If that is the case, he will surely perform at a high level, as adrenaline is the best painkiller,” said the Ducati rider.

Márquez, who was optimistic about Martín’s chances, stated: “Not only do I trust that he will be fast on the track, but I am sure he will be. This will not change the way I approach my preparation, but I will certainly do everything possible to be at my best.”

Márquez also celebrated Martín’s attendance at the race, claiming it is beneficial for the competition. “For the championship fight, it’s better for Jorge to be present. I’m happy to see him on the track,” he explained.

Despite his positive attitude, Márquez has sent a psychological message to Martín, as the Aprilia Racing Team rider suffered a significant crash during an intense battle with Márquez at Phillip Island, which affected his confidence in subsequent competitions.
