Maiden victory for Kari in FIA F3 at Imola

Niko Kari has taken his first win in FIA Formula 3 European Championship, in one of the most legendary venues, Imola. The Finn had a great battle with Stroll, who managed to overtake to take the victory. Joel Eriksson completes the podium.

At the start, Lance Stroll kept the lead despite Niko Kari attacks. Behind them, Nick Cassidy took third position after overtook George Russell and Anthoine Hubert, who later was overtook by Joel Eriksson.

Few minutes later, the safety car made his appearance to remove Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing) car from the gravel. At the restart, Stroll kept Kari behind, but Russell couldn’t with Eriksson who easily overtook the Brit. The Junior of BMW, later overtook Nick Cassidy easily for the podium.

Put the green period wasn’t for many long. The FormulaRapida.net sponsored driver, David Beckmann (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) had to abandon when he was fighting for sixth position with Anthoine Hubert (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Sergio Sette Camara (Motopark). Later on, Camara had to abandon as well like Ukyo Sasahara (ThreeBond with T-Sport).

But the key of the race was when the safety car came into the pits, and Niko Kari (Motopark) took all the risks to overtake Lance Stroll (Prema Powerteam) for the victory. Stroll finished second and with Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam) out of the points, the Canadian could take the championship tomorrow.

Joel Eriksson completes the podium, while the point’s positions were for Nick Cassidy, George Russell, Anthoine Hubert, Guanyu Zhou, Ralf Aron, Ben Barnicoat and Mikkel Jensen.
