Magnussen now clear candidate for McLaren’s seat

The new champion of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, McLaren young driver, is now a clear candidate to be Jenson Button’s teammate in 2014.

As reported by Autosport, the Dane has all the cards to become official driver for the Woking team. This week the team leaders have evaluated the spectacular year of Kevin Magnussen in the World Series by Renault (Formula Renault 3.5) where he left these statistics:
– He has completed all 17 races this year, reaching eight pole positions (about a half), has managed 5 wins (30% of total calendar), has been on the podium 13 times (3/4 of the races of the year) , and has completed 15 of 17 races in the points.
– The Dane has been key in terms of regularity, he didn’t have “useless” as in 2012 and attacked and won races when he most needed: the end of the year.
– He has also proven to be the best of the year in a disqualification in race 1 at Paul Ricard, having mastered all the previous sessions and having won strongly. The next day in Race 2, he returned to secure pole position and victory with authority, showing what it is, a very good driver.
-“Paul Ricard was the worst weekend, but also the best.”
All these factors suggest McLaren technical team to incorporate his young team star driver, in a transitional year, before the team incorporate Honda engines in 2015. And this makes Mclaren stop having to pay such a huge amount of money to a driver like Sergio Perez next year.
