Kevin Magnussen has had his finale moment before and so he didn’t feel overly emotional in his final F1 race, but he enjoyed the moment with his daughter and wife.

This was the third ‘end’ to the F1 career of Magnussen. He had the first after his first stint with McLaren. The second came at Haas. And the third one was with the American F1 outfit again this year. This has made him a tough nut to crack per se as he felt the same in Abu Dhabi too.

“Yeah, we gave it a go, tried our best, nothing to show for it but it’s still been a privilege to come back to Formula 1,” said Magnussen. “These last three years have been a real challenge but a real privilege as well. Very thankful, very excited for the future and I wish the team all the best.

“I think, I’ve been in this situation before so it’s kind of getting old I think. Somehow the emotions, I’ve been through it before in a way so, I don’t know, it doesn’t really feel like the last time somehow. But yeah, I think, as I said, I’m very thankful and I just feel good,” summed up Magnussen.

While the emotions were not high about his potentially final race, the time he had with his daughter and his wife as something enjoyable, especially with the former who will not recall it. Over the last few years, the Dane’s daughter has visited multiple races together with Nico Hulkenberg’s daughter.

“Yeah, for sure, it was very enjoyable to share this moment with my daughter and my wife on the grid [in Abu Dhabi],” said Magnussen. “We sat there just looking and my daughter won’t remember when she grows old, but I’ll certainly remember for the rest of my life. Just to sit there and she was excited and proud to be there on the grid. She loves being around here, she loves supporting her dad and that means a lot.”
