Former Red Bull junior Richard Verschoor will stay back in FIA Formula 3 (F3) Championship in 2020 after re-signing with MP Motorsport.
Verschoor had his first full year in F3 with MP Motorsport in 2019, where he finished 13th, before winning the 2019 Macau GP with the same outfit in November. The former Red Bull junior will stay back in the championship for another season.
“I am happy to continue in FIA Formula 3 together with MP Motorsport and TeamNL”, Verschoor said. “Last year saw an upward trend in the second half of the season, culminating in that amazing victory at Macau where everything just clicked.
“I’m eager to continue this trend, and I’m confident that I can be a frontrunner in 2020.” Verschoor actually completes the F3 line-up for MP Motorsport, which announced Lukas Dunner and Bent Viscaal earlier this week. It also seals the full 2020 grid.
“It is good news that we will continue working together with Richard Verschoor,” stated team manager Sander Dorsman. “Last year, we showed lots of promise in FIA F3 but now we aim for podiums and more victories.”
As we know, F3 will see a tweak in the points system and start order in Race 2, where the Top 10 from Race 1 will start in reverse unlike the Top 8 and the Top 10 will score in both the races unlike just the Top 8 in Race 2, due to the grid having 30 drivers.
