M-Sport becomes the first WRC team to reveal the livery of its 2019 challenger, the Ford Fiesta WRC, ahead of the season opener.
The 2019 season starts during January 24-27 weekend with Rally Monte Carlo in Monaco and the cars will mostly be launched by next week. The preparations though is already underway with several tests by the teams and its drivers.
While the actual car will be launched next week, M-Sport has revealed the livery of the 2019 Ford Fiesta WRC car as the nitrous blue colour returns after last used in 2016 season. The idea is to incorporate both M-Sport and Ford’s values with the new livery.
Its famous tagline ‘Powered by EcoBoost’ also remains on the rear of the car. The British outfit terms the year as an important one for its business as the M-Sport Evaluation Centre will be launched later this year.
The car will be driven by Elfyn Evans and Teemu Suninen in 2019 with Pontus Tidemand driving in Monaco and Sweden for now. “2019 is going to be an important year for M-Sport, and that is reflected in this new livery,” said Malcolm Wilson.
“We have a number of new projects coming up, including the launch of our Evaluation Centre and it’s fantastic to see the test track proudly displayed on our Ford Fiesta WRCs – two projects I’m immensely proud of merged together in this eye-catching new design.
“Support from our friends and colleagues at Ford, MS-RT, Castrol and Michelin is well represented as well as our valued trade partners – and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all as we simply wouldn’t have been able to continue in the FIA World Rally Championship without their support.”
It is indeed an important year for M-Sport especially after the late confirmation by the team to enter in the 2019 WRC season due to budgetary issues. With Sebastien Ogier leaving the team, it also lost a marquee driver to lure in sponsors.
