Lucas Auer claims a stellar pole position for the second race at Lausitzring ahead of Team Mücke Teammate Christian Vietoris. Timo Glock completes top 3.

Let’s remind that Christian Vietoris for Mercedes led the third free-practice session of the week-end this morning. Adrien Tambay was the first to head on track for the twenty-minute-long qualifying session. Lucas Auer was the first one to set a fast time before being beaten by Paul Di Resta, first one to get under the 1:18 line. Auer responded right away and a battle between the two, Mike Rockenfeller and Maximilian Götz settled in the early stages of the session.

Halfway through the session, Marco Wittmann became the first BMW driver to set a fastest time in the session, the Bavarian cars being given a handicap weight. He led from Götz, Timo Glock, Matias Ekström and Auer. Just like yesterday, Bruno Spengler went out when most of cars were in the pits, benefitting from a clean track and managing to settle second best time. Robert Wickens managed to get a great lap marking a 1:17.000 before Auer beat him being the first one of the week-end to get under the 1:17 laptime.

Lucas Auer claims his second pole position in his DTM career for a Mercedes-AMG DTM Team Mücke 1-2 with Christian Vietoris, still under investigation for blocking as we speak, and Timo Glock gets P3 for BMW. Wickens, Rockenfeller, Paffett, Green, Wittmann, Ekström and Blomqvist complete top 10.
