Liberty Media moves F1 from grid girls to grid kids

The group led by Chase Carey, Liberty Media, who took the F1 direction from Bernie Ecclestone brings a new additon that Will have lots of reactions from everyone. After the supresión of the gridgirls, the girls who were holding the panels with drivers number on the grid will now be changed by the kids.


Without doubts Liberty is going to star the 2018 season hard. From no won, it begins this initiative called Grid Kids in which Will took part promoters from every Grand Prix and those associations from all the involucrated kids on motorsport, also their families, allowing them t osee closely their heroes and live F1 from the inside: the starting grid.

The youngers will be chosen by two ways, for their merits on karting or promotion series or by lottery. The winners will by those ones who we iwll see on the preview images to the start of every Grand Prix. It’s and initiative interesting that all those that have defended the grid girls on the past days will dislike.

Probably the kid that meet Kimi Räikkönen last season on the past Spanish GP have helped to took this addition. The kid went to the Ferrari motorhome after crying for the retirement of the fin on the spanish at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. For sure this Little hgeroes of the future will be excited from the posibility to be at the tarmac that the actual drivers will and to be next to them, sseing how they prepare for the race.

Jean Todt is also excited with the Grid Kids: “Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motor sport and the dream of every young racer competing the junior series that make up the FIA’s single-seater pyramid, from karting all the way to F1. We are therefore delighted to bring that dream a little closer by giving the future champions of our sport the opportunity to stand alongside their heroes on the grid in the build-up to the race start. For the wider FIA, this is an excellent initiative that provides additional support to our member ASNs in their efforts to grow motorsport worldwide through a unique reward they can make available to youngsters participating in their national series.”
