Liam Lawson to perform at a live concert before the US F1 GP in Austin

Liam Lawson, F1 driver of Racing Bulls, will perform at a live concert during the VCARB Garage Sessions in Austin, as a prelude to the United States Grand Prix taking place next weekend.

The young New Zealander will temporarily step away from the wheel of his car to perform live at Inn Cahoots on October 22. As part of the event Esses Bazaar, Lawson will share the stage with his brother, Marcus, and childhood friends, Thomas and Harrison.

Guest artists

The concert lineup also includes country singers and songwriters like Jonny Capeci, Scoot Teasley, and Jess Farren, along with emerging talents like Alison Nichols and Drake Milligan.

Lawson has commented on his preparation for the performance: “It’s one of those situations where you never feel completely ready. You could always do more, but my job is so specific that fitting this into my routine can be challenging.”

Moreover, he expressed his exciting expectation: “I’m really excited but also very nervous. Performing with my brother and childhood friends, whom I’ve played with since I was eight, is really special.”

Musical influences

The 24-year-old driver also shared some of his musical influences, highlighting that he grew up listening to his father’s music, focusing on 80s rock. The first concert he attended was of Def Leppard when he was only eight or nine years old.

Lawson explained that his passion for music grew when his father promised he could attend that concert if he passed the guitar exam with honors. Among his references is also John Mayer, whom he admires for his musical ability and songwriting.

Currently, Lawson sits in ninth place in the drivers’ standings with 75 points, while his team, Racing Bulls, is in fifth place with 100 points. The United States Grand Prix will take place at the Circuit of the Americas from October 23 to 25.
