Ferrari junior Arthur Leclerc will remain in FIA Formula 3 (F3) Championship for his second season in 2022 with Prema Team.
Having made his F3 debut in 2021 with Prema, Leclerc had an up and down rookie year to be 10th in the drivers’ standings with two wins and three podiums against his name. He lost out to both his teammates Dennis Hauger and Olli Caldwell.
With the difficult first year now behind, Leclerc decided to stay back in the series with Prema being joined by Ferrari stablemate Oliver Bearman. The two are also to compete in the Formula Regional Asian Championship with Mumbai Falcons.
While Leclerc will do the full season there, Bearman will only race in two rounds with the same team, who will have Prema’s support. “I am extremely happy to continue the work we started with PREMA Racing in the 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship.
“I think we did a good job last year, and 2022 will be a good opportunity to put together everything we have learned so far. I cannot wait for the season to start,” summed up Leclerc – younger brother of Ferrari F1 driver, Charles.
Prema team boss Rene Rosin, meanwhile, added: “It is great to continue our collaboration with Arthur. I am sure that he will carry on the progress we saw in 2021 when he showed he had the potential to be a frontrunner. Last year’s experience with the challenging three-race weekends will definitely help him navigate the events with a great focus, which will surely benefit the whole team.”
