Charles Leclerc has expressed his opinion on Lewis Hamilton’s euphoria ahead of the new Formula 1 season. The Ferrari driver believes Hamilton is not in a “different place” compared to his first year with the team, but is simply excited about the changes brought by the new regulations.
Hamilton’s first season with Ferrari was complicated, marked by many difficulties with the SF-25 model. However, the Englishman has shown a new optimism in his second year, highlighting that he now feels more comfortable with the team after experiencing a year and having a better understanding of its culture.
“The feeling is very different compared to the first year,” Hamilton stated during a press conference. “Now I feel more integrated with the team, and I am much happier with the current situation.”
Despite this optimism, Leclerc is more cautious. The Monegasque driver, who has accumulated more experience at Ferrari, prefers not to raise expectations before the start of the season. “I understand that driving for Ferrari is very special, but it also comes with many expectations that do not always reflect reality. I am prepared to do my best and looking forward to the first victory of the season,” he declared.
Leclerc also commented on Hamilton’s passion, stating, “I don’t think I see him in a different place. I think he is just very excited, just like I am, for the start of the season.” Both drivers hope the new regulations will allow them to surprise both on and off the track.
This weekend, Ferrari will begin the season with the first practice session in Melbourne, where expectations will begin to clarify.
