Charles Leclerc claims his fourth pole position of the season and leads his ART GP teammates, Alexander Albon and Nyck De Vries.

All the drivers went out for a first lap. Charles Leclerc suffered from a lot of oversteer which allowed Alexander Albon to claim the first best flying lap of the session. De Vries was the only one to improve on his second flying lap and placed himself five hundredths a drift from Albon. On his third flying lap, De Vries went two tenths faster than Albon.

Halfway through the session, De Vries was ahead of Albon and Jake Dennis. Leclerc was fourth and Antonio Fuoco was only ninth. Matt Parry was alone on track while all the others were in the pits to change tyres. This strategy offered Parry the second best time with a purple second sector.

As soon as Parry ended his lap, all the drivers went out again for a second stint. Most drivers could improve their laps, especially Fuoco who took provisional P4 before Leclerc set a stellar lap, the only one under 1’50. No one else was able to go faster or even improve in their last laps, the Pirelli tyres not able to go as far.

Charles Leclerc claimed another pole position and extended his championship lead up to 28 points on Fuoco. Albon, De Vries, Aitken, Palou, Fukuzumi (+3), Maini, Stuvik, Dennis and Schothorst completed the top 10, Fuoco being P11.
