Leclerc seeks to improve his connection with the Ferrari of 2026

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari driver, has expressed his concern about the lack of connection with his team’s new car. After the qualifying session for the British Grand Prix, where he finished more than three-tenths behind his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, Leclerc acknowledges that he needs to work on various aspects of his performance.

Despite his previous qualifying skills, the Monegasque has faced difficulties this season. Even after making changes to the brake discs, switching from Brembo to Carbone Industrie, his feel under braking has not improved enough to resolve the persistent issues.

Leclerc has stated that he is aware that he is not in his best form and that he needs to reintegrate the necessary confidence to fully capitalize on his Ferrari’s potential. “Lewis is often at 100% of the potential of the car, which I am not achieving, so I really need to work on everything,” he said.

During his performance at the Spielberg Autodrome, Leclerc felt comfortable in qualifying, although issues emerged during the race. In Silverstone, the driver admitted that his difficulty in achieving a good lap time played a decisive role in his performance. “My feeling with the car is not right, and that complicates getting the lap time I need,” he added.

The situation becomes even more complicated for Leclerc, as the Ferrari SF-26 has shown to have potential, as was evident during the free practice sessions in Silverstone. Surprisingly, the team had predicted difficulties on a power-hungry circuit, but the reality has been different, with the team competing better than they expected.

Leclerc concludes that this competitiveness is a good step forward but also emphasizes the need to continue working to overcome his insecurities. “We are very surprised to be so competitive on a track like this,” he stated, hoping that improvements will come soon.
