The Colombian driver was the fastest man of the session. Marciello and Coletti were second and third.
Julian Leal finished the GP2 practice as quickest. The Carlin driver was ahead of the Racing Engineering teammates, with Marciello second and Coletti third.
With a big risk of rain, the drivers quickly joined the track to make the most of the 45 minutes of practice at an unknown track for the series. Nasr went top, followed by the Americans Daly and Rossi. The latter beat the Brazilian in his following lap.
Lightrain started to fall and although the track was slippery, it wasn’t enough to put on the wet tyres. Several drivers decided to enter the pit lane as the conditions were getting worse. When the rain stopped, they came back.
Rossi was still on top while Coletti was second, followed by fellow contryman Richelmi. Minutes later, Palmer improved Rossi’s time and went first. Coletti quickly beat Palmer, but both were relegated to second and third by Nasr, who went top.
With 16 minutes to go, Marciello was first. Nasr was second, Cecotto third, Evans fourth and Coletti fifth. The times were improving as the session was about to end, but the rain started to fall hard and the practice finished with Leal leading the timesheets.
