The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has revealed 42 teams of the 60 to enter for the 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours race.
The 2019 edition of Le Mans 24 Hours will end the inaugural 2018/19 superseason which the FIA World Endurance Championship had to change to accommodate the loss of teams in the lead LMP1 category. The teams and drivers are visiting the race for the second time.
The LMP1 category will feature only eight teams from WEC with reigning champions Toyota leading the charge with two cars which is same as Rebellion Racing and SMP Racing. DrgonSpeed will enter one along with ByKolles – who are missing from Sebring round.
Not on the list are the two CEFC TRSM Racing’s Ginettas. The driver list is pretty much same with Jenson Button returning as ByKolles only has Tom Dillmann as its driver and the other change being Sergey Sirotkin in place of Matevos Isaakyan at SMP.
Over in the LMP2 class, there are nine cars named so far with 20 entering in 2018, where six are from the WEC side and two from the European LeMans Series, the latter featuring G-Drive Racing Oreca along with RLR MSport Oreca.
The WEC cars will be represented by two Jackie Chan DC Racing Orecas along with the single cars of DragonSpeed Oreca, TDS Racing Oreca, Racing Team Nederland Dallara, Signatech Alpine and Larbre Competition Ligier.
The LMGTE Pro class has 10 teams entered so far with two each of BMW Motorsport, Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin whereas the LMGTE Am category having six Ferrari & Porsche cars, two Aston Martin and one Ford.
