Liam Lawson happy to get the results on the bounce in F1 Belgian GP, as Isack Hadjar frustrated by issue that hampered his outing.

After a troubled start to his campaign at Visa Cash App RB, Lawson has found some rhythm and is getting the desired results against his name. He feels he has been driving well and the points scored is icing on the top, as he did so in tricky conditions in F1 Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps.

He started behind teammate Hadjar but managed to get ahead of him. He lost out to Lewis Hamilton after the Brit’s good drive, but he hung onto eighth, well ahead of Gabriel Bortoleto. Lawson is happy that he is finally getting the results which he missed out on despite some good drives.

“Yeah, very happy, I am very happy for the guys,” said Lawson to media. “I guess it was a tough race, it is always tricky when you have a crossover to the dry tyre. I felt like it was quite early in the race, like I, to be honest, didn’t feel it was ready but we made the call and by that point, Lewis had already been one-two laps on the dry tyres.

“So, yeah, tricky to survive that stint and then from there the car was very fast, so I am very happy. I think so, its been a case where results have come and that’s great. The pace has been there for a while, honestly, it is nice to have a couple of results. We just need to keep rolling, obviously one more until the break, it would be nice to finish this first part of the year with another good race,” summed up Lawson.

Teammate Hadjar could have made it double points for Visa Cash App RB. But early in the race, the Frenchman encountered an issue which hampered his pace on straightline. First he lost to Lawson and subsequent pit stop after one lap, eventually dropped him last.

He couldn’t recover due to the issue, which was a frustrating end. “I had a problem with the car, but I just can’t say much, but [it was] very, very frustrating,” said Hadjar to media. “It made me not competitive, and losing quite a bit of time every lap consistently, and I was aware of it. I did my best, and it was super painful at a special track like this.

“It started very early in the race, like first few laps and for the remaining, quite costly and massive in the end. I had no chance to fight. Even if I started way ahead, I would have been caught and overtaken. The pace has been super strong the whole weekend. So, what happened makes no sense, where Liam ended up, it makes a lot of sense, so it’s a shame for the team to miss on a double-points finish.

“It is good, I needed a weekend like this. Obviously it didn’t end the way we wanted, but we had a tough run, and we are aware it happens over a very long championship, and the goal is to get back up and understand and improve, and that’s what we did here. We turned it around really well, and we’re confident for Budapest,” summed up Hadjar.
