Liam Lawson has been confirmed to replace Daniel Ricciardo at Visa Cash App AB for rest of the 2024 F1 season, from US GP onward.

After confirmation from Red Bull and Visa Cash App RB just 20 minutes ago, the latter has officially confirmed Lawson as the replacement of Ricciardo for rest of the 2024 F1 season, alongside Yuki Tsunoda. He will start his tenure from US GP onward.

Already in Singapore GP, there were reports of Ricciardo’s exit, with the Australian himself taking it as his final F1 grand prix. Red Bull were to decide the future course post the Singapore race and have done so along with Visa Cash App RB.

This is the second time that Lawson is replacing Ricciardo, after the Kiwi did so in Zandvoort in 2023. That spell of races for the youngster helped him secure a F1 future. They were on the lookout for the Kiwi elsewhere on the grid.

But with no seat available, they decided to keep Lawson in the Red Bull family. For now, the Kiwi has been confirmed for the rest of the 2024 F1 season. While Tsunoda is firm for 2025, it remains to be seen if the Kiwi will remain as his partner next season or not.

“Everyone here at VCARB would like to thank Daniel for his hard work across the last two seasons with us,” said Laurent Mekies. “He has brought a lot of experience and talent to the Team with a fantastic attitude, which has helped everyone to develop and foster a tight team spirit.

“Daniel has been a true gentleman both on and off the track and never without that smile. He will be missed, but will always hold a special place within the Red Bull family. I’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome Liam. He already knows the Team well.

“He drove for us last season, and coped well under difficult circumstances, so it’ll be a natural transition. It’s great to see young talent from within the Red Bull family make the next step. We’re looking forward to getting our heads down and focusing on the rest of the season together.”
